Hi there, I'm Claire
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Lyon, France.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What started as a temporary contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in the plan for the long haul. As with many international assignments, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were demanding— unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Everyday chores seemed more tangled than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and a lot of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built CozyLakePaper
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap— practical guidance drawn from real life in France.
